Fatigue: The Body's Signal of Imbalance
Fatigue is a natural response of the body, telling us we need time for rest and repair. Fatigue should not interfere with our daily activities of living, and we should feel rejuvenated each morning after waking from a sound night's sleep.
However, sometimes periods of fatigue may grow longer and more severe, indicating that some aspect of our health may be seriously out of balance. Fatigue can be mild and generalized ("I just don't have the energy I used to") or it can be quite severe and debilitating ("I can't get out of bed, I sleep 18 hours a day, I'm exhausted by a 30 minute trip to the grocery, etc.").
If the fatigue has come on fairly suddenly you should first work with your doctor to make sure your thyroid gland is functioning well and that you are not anemic. If these are not causing your symptoms, but you're still having trouble with fatigue, ask yourself...
