Memory Loss
Our memory is one of the most valuable components of our complete health. Everyone loses some memory to age (as nerve cells die), but healthy people can maintain an excellent memory until death. Factors that increase the likelihood of maintaining sharp mental function include regular exercise and obtaining good levels of antioxidants through diet or supplements. This delivers more blood and oxygen to the brain, prevents damage from free radicals, and increases waste removal, via the increased circulation.
Hormones can play an important role in mental function and memory, especially as hormone levels begin to drop in menopause or andropause.
Some people may develop accelerated memory loss or mental function changes which can greatly alter their lifestyle. It is unclear how much of these disorders are due to genetics and how much to "environment." but in any case, nutrient and environmental changes should be of some help.
