The Skin: The Body's Canvas of Health
The skin is by far the largest organ in the body. It protects us from the external world, providing a tough barrier between the environment and us. Yet skin is also metabolically active tissue that allows us to maintain body temperature, to detoxify and excrete many toxins. For this reason, the skin may reflect our inner health and balance. Although surface irritants can be the source of skin problems, many skin conditions are actually systemic in origin, and may arise from imbalances within our bodies.
